PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla- Replacing a running back like Jeremy Hester is a tough job, the good news for the Marlins is they have two running backs who've applied for the position.
"We're expecting great things from our running backs." Coach James hale said. "I think they're two of the best in the state."
Andre Allen and Jamari Hughes are both juniors, with alot of talent. Allen transferred from Miami in the spring. While Hughes played for Arnold last year as Hester's backup and a defensive back. They've been turning heads after making big play after big play in the spring and fall jamborees, and they have higher expectations for themselves.
"If we stay in the weight room, work hard, and keep doing everything we're doing now I think we should be two backs that are the best in the state. That's how I feel," Allen said.
"When you have two good running backs in the same backfield...sharing the ball could become a problem, but Hughes and Allen say there are enough carries to go around."
"We're just trying to win games." Hughes said. "No matter if I start that game, or Andre start the game, as long as we come out with a win we could have ten yards a piece and be satisfied with it."
"Me and Jamari we encourage each other as much as we can." Added Allen. "So, most of the time when I'm running the ball he encourages me, and when he's running the ball I encourage him. Anytime we get the ball we should score, that's how I feel."
This year defenses won't have to worry about Jeremy Hester when they play Arnold, but from the look of this new backfield, that's not good news!
Arnold plays Munroe Friday at 7 at Gavlak stadium.
