We now know how the medical treatment for Northwest Florida State men's basketball coach Bruce Stewart will proceed.
Stewart was diagnosed last week with a very serious brain tumor, what they call a glioblastoma. Coach Stewart's doctors have him heading back to Shands Hospital in Gainesville to begin 6 weeks of radiation starting this coming Monday. He will receive radiation and chemo Monday through Friday for that six week period. Coach Stewart releasing a statement through the school today saying quote "I could not be more impressed with the focus, knowledge and determination this doctor team showed Robin and myself, and I continually thank the Raider Nation, Northwest Florida State employees, churches, the community and fellow coaches and players for their prayers and concern." unquote.
It's worth noting, Coach Stewart remains the head coach of the Raiders, assistant coach Joe Richardson will be handling practices and pre-season games while Stewart is going through treatment. I speak for thousands when I say we can't wait to see Coach Stewart back on the bench!
