Miami Heat practice at Hurlburt Field

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla- The Miami Heat worked out Tuesday morning for a couple of hours in their first pre-season camp away from Miami.

For the first time in team history the Heat are holding their pre-season camp outside of Miami. They're not just doing it to get away from the media circus that's followed the team since Lebron James and Chris Bosh signed with the team, it's also about spending time with the troops and hopefully picking up some of their good habits.

"What we can learn and hopefully experience and share with alot of the Airmen and Women out here are these incredible standards that they live by."Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Service, Sacrifice, and Discipline. Hopefully we'll have enough interaction where our players can really see that."

"It was awesome. Coming in and seeing a couple thousand people waiting to see you come in was great. We had a long day so to come in to that reception was great." Dwayne Wade added. "We thanked them for letting us be here, and giving us the opportunity to train side by side with some of the best to do it."

The 3 Kings of South Beach are getting in their first few days of work together, and they're using the time to work on their chemistry.

"It doesn't feel normal just yet. It's a new beginning for me. I don't feel like a rookie, I've been around training camps, but I feel like it's a new start," said Lebron James.

The team is not wasting time challenging each other on the court either, and they say that's what they'll need this season.

"To get to where we want to go it has to be intense. Extra is really not a word we can use. We know teams like the Lakers, the Celtics and Magic are out there working very very hard, so we probably have to go harder for that matter," Chris Bosh said.

The team will go hard everyday this week, before they head back to South Beach on Sunday.Their first pre-season game is October 5th against Detroit in Miami.
