Arnold Wins Softball 5A Region Semifinal

Pensacola, FL--The dream lives on for the Arnold softball squad following a 2-1 win at West Florida Friday night in the 5A region semifinals.

That win sends Arnold into the region finals Tuesday against Ponte Vedra in the the Jacksonville area. This just the second state playoff win ever in the Arnold program's history, the first coming earlier this week at Wakulla.

Arnold starter Shannon Godfrey gave up a run in the bottom of the first, but would not give up another, going the distance with a 4 hitter, while striking our four.

The Arnold offense got all the runs Godfrey would need in the top of the 4th. Katie Godfrey with an rbi double, her pinch runner then scored on a passed ball as JoJo Booker attempted a suicide squeeze.

That 5A region final Tuesday will be at 7 o'clock eastern time. A win there puts Arnold into the state semifinals, which take place in Clermont in early May.

Niceville, Holmes, Liberty, and Port St. Joe also winning their respective region semifinal games Friday, and will also play region finals Tuesday.
