Today the school board approved contracts for both the Association of Bay County Educators and the Bay Educational Support Personnel Association.
Board members say, despite the tight budget, they were able to give employees a package raise of seven percent on average. The package includes insurance, step raises and an extra raise on top of that. But according to Karen Tucker, in Bay District's Public Information Office, the package deal doesn't apply to every employee.
"Teachers are here to help our students and they work hard and we realize that and we do all that we can to help them," said Johnny Brock, a board member.
"I'm very proud we're able to provide some added income to our employees," said Jon McFatter, a board member.
