The search is on over at Mosley High School, which unexpectedly hit the market for a new head baseball coach Wednesday. As we told you Thursday night, Mike Williams handed in his resignation as head coach, citing personal reasons.
The coach telling me his leaving the diamond had nothing to do with the administration, the parents, the players; it's simply a personal matter.
In just two seasons he took Mosley from last to first in its district, and overall was 28-23 in those two years. Again, Williams is staying on to teach and work with the football team.
In reacting to the news, Mosley Principal Bill Husfelt said they regret losing Williams as head coach, but certainly respect his decision. Mr. Husfelt says they'll advertise within the district for five days, then if necessary advertise outside. He adds AD Tim Jennings is already working on the process of finding a new coach who will fit in with a great nucleus of young players who are really excited about next year.
It's hoped a new coach could be in place by the end of this month with summer ball right around the corner.
