To the links and day one of the 80th Sherman Invitational at the Panama Country Club. The defending and four-time champ is Richard Maddox. This is a birdie attempt for Richard on the par 5 9th, doesn't fall; he shot a 3 over 75.
Over to the par 3 7th, Rob Maddox, the southpaw, went for the birdie. He too settled for par, he's in 2nd with a 71. His playing partner, Jim Kemp, is third at 72, and another four time champ, Mike Riley, is at 73. He missed the green on 7 but did get the bird to fall. They were all chasing Matt Johnson, who carded a 5 under 67.
In all, 165 golfers took part in 11 different divisions. The tourney had two more rounds Saturday and Sunday.
