On to the other kind of football.
Thursday at Renegade Sports Center, the owners of the area's Professional Development League team officially unveiled their roster, which includes several current collegiate players. Among them is 2005 Mosley grad Ryan Rogers.
He and his teammates lost their first two regular season games on the road in Orlando. They make their home debut Saturday night at 7 at the Gavlak Sports Complex on the Arnold High School campus.
Carey Turner, Pirates G.M., said, "Well, we expect a really good family entertainment venue, and do we want to win soccer games, absolutely. That's a great thing too, but we also want to bring this level of soccer to this community and offer families something that they haven't had in the past."
Bill Elliott, Pirates Head Coach, added, "I mean, this PLD Leagues is a professional development league. Many of these guys are gonna be tomorrow's pros, and so I think there's gonna be a level of soccer and excitement associated with the game that people in this area aren't accustomed to seeing."
