2012 London Olympic Games Schedule

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games from London began in London on Friday with the Opening Ceremony that featured pageantry, protocol and a parade of nations, all leading to the climactic lighting of the Olympic cauldron that officially started.

As of now the USA has 13 golds: three gold, five silver, and five bronze.

Swimming has the largest medal count so far with eight. Ryan Lochte won the gold medal in the men's 400 IM final by a landslide with Michael Phelps, the 2008 gold medalist, placing 4th.

Dana Vollmer broke the world record along with winning the gold in the women's 100 meter fly.

The US women's gymnastics team began their Olympics on a great note with no mistakes on vault, bars and beam. However, Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Weiber stepped out of bounds on the floor exercise leaving the all-around line up wide open for Aly Raisman.

Olympics rules say only two members from each country can make it to the all around competition and with her awesome floor exercise; Aly Raisman knocked Jordyn Weiber out the all-around, surprising many. Weiber won every major event she entered in her senior debut season, including the world all-around title in 2011.
