Gainesville, FL---Call it a sigh of relief for fans in our region, where the FSU-Florida rivalry is concerned!
The University of Florida confirming Thursday it and Florida State have signed a new contract that continues the rivalry through 2018.
Most fans unaware their current contract expired after the 2014 game.
There were whispers, if you will, Florida State might not be willing or able to continue playing the Gators down the road if the ACC expands to a 9 game schedule.
Thursday's deal puts those worries to rest. The Gator and Seminoles have played 58 times dating back to 1958. Florida leads the series 34-22-2.
FSU has won three of the last four including last year's blowout win in Gainesville, on the way to an undefeated season and the national championship. FSU hosts this year's game November 29th.
