The competition featured all types of martial arts. There were open hand form competitions, weapon competitions featuring numb chucks, samurai swords, and long staffs.
There was also a little sparring. This is the longest running open tournament. Kids of all ages showed off their karate skills.
Even the adults got into the mix showcasing their martial arts abilities. And according to event organizers, martial arts can teach you some good lessons.
"Well, in karate, the respect, manners and discipline, good sportsmanship, their attitudes and, you know, the way times are, of course. What you really want to focus on is self-defense. It's just a great activity for a family to get in to," Mike Culbreth of World Yoshukai Karate said.
For all the participants, countless awards were given out.
