The bad weather held off and they were able to get the first of two pro-ams in the books today. There's another pro-am set for tomorrow and then Friday morning it's time to play for real and that gives area fans a chance to see two very big name Champions Tour players Mark O'Meara and Nick Price.

"The quality of play is not surprising to me. These guys are all champions, they know how to win. We saw an exciting win last week. Denis Watson at the senior PGA championship, but you know Jay Haas has played real well and some of the other golfers have played some good golf and I'd just like to have a good weekend and have my first chance to win on the champions tour possibly this week."

"It's probably a little more fun that I thought it might be, it's nice to be out here with a lot of guys that I grew up with and respected and admired throughout the years playing with them and having a good time, it's strange coming out and not knowing where you're going, you know every week, but I'm getting the hang of it."

He's right about that, Price, a former number one had a third place finish at last week's senior PGA.

"The last year and a half it's been pretty bad, very inconsistent and actually not a lot of fire in the game and then last week I didn't have the fire in my game, but I didn't make as many mistakes so it was good."

Now one of the guys making a return trip to the raven here is Curtis Strange who along with Hubert Green was recently voted into the golf hall of fame.

"It's been very exciting for me and my family and a lot of my friends who have been around 52 years with me so it's an honor, it's hard to put into words; it's very nice."

As for this event, Strange says he has nothing but good memories.

"Wonderful golf course, we all enjoy it. You know you got to hit shots and make putts like all golf courses, but a nice atmosphere well laid out, a pretty golf course, we all enjoy the week and hopefully again this year."

Again the tournament rounds are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tee times on Friday begin at 8 a.m.

Tomorrow we'll catch up with Denis Watson. He's coming off that senior PGA win last week. It was 22 years between victories for Watson, a very interesting story there.
