The practice and pro am rounds are history. We're now looking ahead to the start of the tournament tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
Seventy eight golfers in a stellar field, and these days it's safe to say this man is a favorite heading into every Champions Tour event. He's Jay Haas, last year's player of the year. He has two wins this year, leads in money and Schwab Cup points. Not bad for a guy who says he's really not playing well.
"Along with being a pretty darn good player, Jay's a good spokesman for this tour. He's quick to point out why fans should not make any assumptions about these ‘senior players.’”
"Now to the future of this event, we've already told you the major sponsor Boeing's pulling out, so its future is in limbo, we talked about that today with tour president Rick George.
Let's hope everything falls into place and Sandestin will be hosting the Champions Tour for some time. They're here for sure this weekend. Come out and watch, you'll see some terrific golf.
Watson is a guy to cheer for. He tees off at 10:23. Tomorrow, first tee time’s at 8. We'll be here to cover it all.
