Haas teed off at 12:35 with a one shot lead over Tom Purtzer, and two ahead of Eduardo Romero.

Just ahead of them, Loren Roberts in a group with Denis Watson and Brad Bryant, Roberts making the early move with this bird on the par five third. Roberts two back at 11 under.

Same hole a few minutes later, Purtzer birdies to share the lead with Haas at 13. Roberts meanwhile gets birdies on 4, just misses another birdie here on the par five seventh, but he would take it to 13 under with a bird on eight. Still on the par five seventh, Purtzer now up by one at 14 under, Haas though going for the green in two, check this shot out, through the trees on to the green. Romero would land in almost the same spot, so they each have eagle attempts.

Romero first. His putt falls, he's 13 under. Haas then going for his eagle, it too goes, he's goes to 14 under.

Purtzer meanwhile, a birdie putt onseven, that falls, he's 15 under. But he then bogeys 8, 9 and 12, Haas double bogeys 9, bogeys 12, and Romero also bogeys the short par three. 12th.

Roberts had no such trouble on 12, he birdies the hole, to take it to 15 under, he had the lead and wasn't about to let it slip away. He birdies 14, gets tap in pars on 13 and 15, and then nails a 35-footer for bird on the par five seventheenth, he has it to 17 under, and after Romero makes bogey on 17, the final challenge was simply not blowing up on 18. Roberts hits a lay-up out of fairway bunker, then lands it safely on with his third shot.

He two putts from there to come in at 16 under. That's three ahead of Romero, four ahead of Purtzer and Bob Gilder who shot 65 today. Roberts who won five times in his first 20 Champions Tour events, breaking an 0 for 18 title drought with this victory.

As for the crowd today, over 31,000 on hand, 68,000-plus for the three tourney rounds. It's safe to say the Sandestin folks would certainly love to see another major sponsor step up, and be able to host this event into the future!

Again, Loren Roberts walks away with 247 grand and the title. Let's hope he's back here next year to defend his title.
