It is just about time for the Niceville Eagles to be hopping on a bus and heading south....south to Orlando where Saturday they will take on Dwyer in the 4A State Championship game.

The Eagles just wrapping up their final workout on the home field, tomorrow morning at 7 they'll load up and head to Gainesville for a midday workout, then take it into Orlando late Friday afternoon.

As we've said many times, Niceville gunning for it's second football state title, the first coming in '88 under then coach Frank Sorrells, who led a talented squad with the likes of Kenny Felder, Kevin Knox and Kedra Malone on it.

Coach Hicks says as he preps his team this week, he's hearing from some of the members of that 88 team!

Hicks says, "Yeah we've had a lot of emails a lot of support you know and I think quite a few of them are going down to be at the game. And I think it means a lot to our kids that the whole town supports us. Being on the road, being down there in the big stadium like that, I think that's gonna be a big help to us."

The Eagles take a 13 and oh record south with them, Dwyer's 13-1, having lost their season opener to Glades Central, then winning 13 straight. That game Saturday one central time, it will be aired live throughout the state on Fox Sports Florida!
