Jeff Mathis starting catcher for the Anaheim Angles had his jersey retired at his Marianna High School.

He played for the bulldogs from 97-01, and helped lead Marianna to a state title in 1999 in baseball, as well as a runner-up finish in football in 2000 AS Quarterback.

Mathis was taken in round one...33rd overall in 2001, and made his debut for the Angels in August 2005.

For his MLB career he's batting .200, with 20 homers, and 99 RBI.

That 1999 state championship team was also honored during the ceremony.
