The announcement was made at a press conference Friday afternoon.
Coach Rivers spent the last 33 years as a teacher and athletic coach at Rutherford High. He spent the last five years as the Head Football Coach for the Rutherford Rams. He said he plans to spend his time-off relaxing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Rutherford Principle Mike Kennedy said sometime in the next week, a committee will be formed to find a replacement, but for the meantime, he would like to keep the focus on Coach Rivers and the legacy he leaves with the high school.
