The Gulf Coast Lady Commodores were exactly where they planned to be when they started the women's national tournament, and that's in the title game.

Their opponent was like a mirror image to Gulf Coast, Jefferson the number one seed has only one loss, Gulf Coast also one loss on the season. Gulf Coast, the number 2 seed, and that means the tournament committee thought these two teams would meet in the finals, and that's what is going to happen.

Gulf Coast does what it has all season and that’s win. The Lady Commodores never got closer than 9 points after Gulf Coast took the lead. They take the 83 to 61 victory and win the third national championship under head coach Roonie Scovel. The ‘Dores took the national championship in 2003 with a 35-0 record, they did it again in 2008 with a 35-1 record. With the win tonight they end the magical season with a 32-1 record.
