Port St. Joe wins Regional Quarterfinal

The Tiger Sharks played host to Maclay out of Tallahassee in this first round game.

In the top of the third with the score 2-1 Maclay #30 Jon Whitmore hit a sharp liner to Roman Quinn at short, but Quinn's throw was off the mark and two runs scored to give Maclay the 4-1 lead. Maclay would go up 5-1 after an RBI single and end the 3rd inning with an impressive lead.

In the bottom of the third Calvin Pryor smoked the single to center to score Levi Richter making it 5-2 Maclay, and the Sharks were on the comeback trail. The score remained 5-2 until the bottom of the 4th when Roman Quinn hit a single to center and scored two runs to pull the sharks within 1. Two batters later J. Mason Ray hit the a one hopper to third, but his throw went wide. That error scored Quinn from 3rd, and Levi Richter came all the way around from first to make it 6-5 PSJ.

The game was tied 8-8 going into the bottom of the 7th, and the sharks win 9-8 with an RBI single.

At 17-9 the Tiger Sharks will play host to North Florida Christian on Friday in Port St. Joe.
