Springfield, FL- Friday was a big day in Rutherford history as the school dedicated the new basketball court at the “Ram House” Basketball Gym.
The court is now named in honor of coach Clyde Mills, a legend in the Rutherford community. Coach Mills began his teaching career in Mississippi in 1961. He started with Bay District Schools at Everitt Middle School in 1969 and moved to Rutherford high school in 1987 where he served as athletic director for many years. He coached basketball, football, golf, and baseball until his retirement in 2005.
This is a huge honor for a well deserving coach.
“You know certainly this is a humbling experience to have this done in my honor,” Mills said. “I'm sure it's not deserving but certainly I do accept this with gratitude for those people that were involved in seeing this happen."
