If you're planning on attending just one Florida State football game in the Fall, and you're a fan of Seminole Hall
of Famer Derrick Brooks, well then that one game will the Clemson game November 13th. That's because the University will, on that day at Doak, retire Brooks number ten jersey.
The decision to do so a very easy one, Brooks, out of Pensacola, easily one of the greatest FSU football players of all time.
A two time consensuc All American linebacker, he led Mickey Andrews defense from 91 to 94. He was part of that '93 National Championship team.
This one game against Clemson in 1993 indicative of number ten's dominance...he stops a 4th down play at the goal line, then scoops up a fumble and scores, also in that game he blocked a punt that turned into a special teams score. Simply put he did it all.
He was also outstanding in the classroom, an Academic All American. He went on to star for years in the NFL, won a Super Bowl with the Buc's.
Derrick's #10 the 8th jersey number to be retired at FSU...the other 7, Biletnikoff, Sellers, Simmons, Deion, Ward, Dunn and Wienke. Again that ceremony in November the day of the Clemson game.
