Youth Baseball

Panama City Beach- Frank Brown Park in Panama City Beach is abuzz with youth ball. 84 teams from all over the region and beyond taking part in this weekend's tourney there, one of three Grand Slam Tournaments there this Summer.

The teams playing in 7 age groups, from U-8 to U-14. Events like this one will keep families coming to the beach for much of the Summer, regardless of what's happening in the Gulf.

Houston Sluggers Coach Darwin Dixon said, "The oil affected us a little bit. We got together with the parents and talked to them a little bit. We just wanted to come down here and play some good baseball. We still had the beach, and we checked the weather before we came and the oil wasn't affecting us, so we just came down here to have a good time."

"We're very excited about that because whenever we come down here for like a big tournament we always want something to do during off time." Houston Sluggers Pitcher Lael Lockhert said. "So we're not just hyped up and if we lose we're not just down for the next game."
