University of Georgia Athletic Director Damon Evans resigns in the wake of an embarrassing arrest!

The Associated Press
Georgia athletic director Damon Evans speaks during a news conference in Athens on Thursday. A state trooper pulled Evans over late Wednesday night for driving erratically. Police said Evans smelled of alcohol and was given a field sobriety test. He was taken to Atlanta's city jail on charges of DUI and failure to maintain a lane.

The University of Georgia suddenly finds itself in the market for a new athletic director. That's because Damon Evans has resigned that post, in the wake of his recent d-u-i arrest. School president Michael Adams made the announcement about Evans resignation several hours ago, following a conference call with the executive committee of the school's Athletic Association Board of Directors.
Evans was arrested late Wednesday in Atlanta following a traffic stop and subsequent arrest for driving under the influence.
Evans made news back in 2004 when he became the first black athletic director in the Southeastern Conference.
Adams is expected to talk more about all of this and talk about the process for filling the job, Tuewsday.
