West Bay- The HT Redfish series made it's way to Bay County for the first time, and despite the oil leak in the gulf 11 boats competed for prizes.
The tournament started Friday with each team weighing two fish that had to be under 27 inches long. The local team of Joey Sostheim and Jake Matney had the lead heading into today's final weigh-ins.
The winners take a 4,500 dollar 1st place cash prize home, and out of 11 boats in the tournament, Sostheim and Matney had another big day on Saturday and take the win. They had a total weight of 25.91 pounds for their four fish.
Jake Matney said, "When you come and you fish at the house you need to catch them. Things went right today. We caught the fish, we got the bites. Everything went right, had a great time."
"It was great, we've had some bad luck in the past. It was good to finally get out there and catch some good fish." Sostheim added. "Beautiful weather, fishing is great. You know you hear alot about the oil and stuff, but it's no where near the inshore fishing that I like to do so we just had a great weekend."
Bo Sullivan and George Wainwright finished in second place with a total weight of 24.47 pounds. Fred Myers and Dwayne Eschete took third with a four fish weight of 23.98 pounds.
