College Basketball

We start on the basketball hardwood and with the next big decision for Arnold alum Nate Hicks. You may remember ?a week and a half ago we told you Nate had asked out of his scholarship commitment with Tulane, following a coaching change over there.
Well as of last Thursday, Hicks is a free man, getting his official release from Tulane and the NCAA, allowing him to talk to other schools and work himself a new scholarship offer. Ever since, as Nate's high school coach tells us, Nate's been doing just that!

James Baxley
Arnold Head Coach

"He went to Georgia Tech immediately, went and worked out for them this weekend. And they asked him to stay today to work out with the team. Right now Georgia Tech doesn't have a single player over 6-7 so as a 6-11 freshman he could get nice minutes coming in. Florida State's in the picture, Auburn, Boston College, Gulf Coast, there's a lot of folks that would like to have Nate. So Nate's gonna go up there, he's gonna work with 'em today then he's gonna come back, spend a little time thinking about it, and in the next four or five days he'll probably make a decision."

Because he got the release from Tulane, Nate does not have to sit out a year if he transfers division one. Florida State as coach mentioned also interested though coach Hamilton apparantly suggesting Nate would redshirt his first year. Baxley tells me Nate wants to play right away, which has Tech leading the list of contenders.
