The U.S.A. National Softball Team has had to scale back, well, just about everything now that the Olympic Committee no longer supports or recognizes its sport.

A local squad that's played rather well at this week's U.S.F.A. event is the Panama City Rage, a team playing in the U-18 division. The Rage 2 and 1 through pool play, putting them in the winners bracket and their first game there, they nailed down a 5-0 win over the Indy Bandits Wednesday, and another with yesterday. That had them playing on today, which for the players on this particular team a very good thing because for many it advances their chances of getting much needed exposure in front of college scouts.

"For colleges, there's a lot of college scouts out here looking for players, so we're trying to do our best to get theses girls on to college. A lot of high schools don't play good teams. They play some good, some bad. Out here they're all good. Every team you play is good, every team."
