Panama City Beach- The Gulf Coast Triathlon wrapped up the 2010 race a couple of months ago but organizers are staying busy. They are giving away money to supporters of the annual race.
The triathlon always enlists the help of local organizations to make the race a success each year.
For the last 28 the triathlon has asked the local community to partner with them and this summer they are thanking them with checks.
The GCT paid out over 12 thousand dollars to the Panama City Marine Institute, the Bay County Sheriff's office, the Panama City Beach Police Department, Friends of St. Andrews State Park, and the Panama City Swim Team.
Gulf Coast Triathlon Director Elizabeth Whitton said, “For 28 years the Gulf Coast Triathlon has been a part of the Bay County community, and we feel it is very important to give the money that we make back to the Bay County community that has supported us for the last 28 years, and will be supporting us for our 29th year in May of 2011."
