A great haul at the Mobile Memorial Day Tournament bodes well for two area Billfish tournaments, the ECBC and Bay Point.

Panama City Beach, FL--On to fishing and we're now just a couple of weeks away from the first of the area's two big billfish tournaments. the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic starts on the 22nd. the Bay Point Invitational is just two weeks beyond that starting July 7th.
¶ With last year's oil spill there's reason to wonder what the Gulf fishery might be like these days. The Memorial Day Tournament in mobile is helping to allay those fears though as 92 boats gathered to catch and weigh-in about 100 fish including three blues, the biggest of which tipped the scale at 706 pounds.

Bay Point Inv. Director
¶"It's prime, nobody saw anything except a lot of fish. The water was beautiful, the fish were healthy. And it was across the board, tuna, wahoo, dolphin, swordfish, blue marlin, all types of species. It was truly a wonderful start to the season. Everybody is so happy that last year is behind us, and it's clearly behind us. Let's move on, let's have a great time with our families and our friends. Let's get out and enjoy that resource and the beauty and the bounty that is within it."
