Lynn Haven/Panama City, FL--- Monday certainly a significant day in the progression of high school football as area programs work towards the start of the season.
Fall practice officially beginning last Monday, this Monday though the first day of full contact. We visited the practice fields at Mosley and North Bay Haven, where the enthusiasm was sky high. Certainly the players enjoyed banging heads and shoulders!
Both these teams practicing in the afternoon hours, and it was still rather hot out there.
We recently sat down with several area coaches and players and asked them if they feel things are getting more intense given the fact those fall jamborees and the opening games are now just a few weeks away. Here's the thoughts of North Bay Haven senior quarterback King David Smith.
"Aw man that's all I've been....lately school, family and that game. Like how different it's gonna be, everyone around me the whole school's atmosphere is changing. And it hasn't even started. So many people have gotten in touch with me. And like me myself, it's just running through my mind, the first game, the first game, the first game."
As for Mosley head coach Jeremy Brown, he too sees players looking forward to the start of the season, and that's not a bad thing he says.
"The kids are already talking about the kickoff classic. They're already talking about the week one game against Leon. They're already asking me questions, you know coach we played against Leon in that Saturday scrimmage in May. You know coach their quarterback's really big, we gotta stop them. So I think now we've got some guys who are thinking about football more than just when they're at football practice."
