Panama City, FL----For many area high school football programs, there's a change of address you might say coming in the new year.
Every two years the Florida High School Athletic Association assigns, or reassigns teams to specific classes and districts, based on school population and geography.
Here is where the area teams fall, starting with a bump up in class for Choctaw, Fort Walton Beach and Mosley, who will move to class 7A and be grouped together in a three team league.
Things staying the same for Arnold, Bay and Rutherford, still in 5A, still in district 1 with Gulf Breeze and West Florida.
Marianna and Walton will remain 4A teams but get an additional league mate in Godby.
Now to the smaller schools, the 1A or rural class remains the same, Freeport's in District 1 with Baker, Jay
District 2 has Cottondale, Graceville Sneads, Vernon and Wewahitchka.
It's Bozeman, Chipley, Holmes and South Walton still in district 3.
And the same district 4, Blountstown, Franklin, Liberty, Port St. Joe and West Gadsden.
Schools can appeal their classification and that process, it's not often though those appeals are won.
Here's a listing of the above mentioned district assignments:
