Armstrong Leaving Chipley Football

Chipley, FL--Sometimes when your team's football program achieves big time success, well there's always the chance you'll lose your head coach.

That's exactly what's happening at Chipley. Head football coach Rob Armstrong, the architect of this year's team that made it all the way to the 1-A state championship game, is heading north.\

Armstrong telling Newschannel 7 Sports Tuesday he's leaving Chipley to take a job at Berrien County, a 1-A school outside Valdosta. The school board there set to approve his hiring Tuesday night.

Rob says he's enjoyed his time at Chipley the move to Berrien does include a bump in pay, but more so it's an opportunity to get back into Georgia. His wife does a lot of work in Georgia, so that's a factor.

Armstrong calls last year's run to state the memory of a lifetime, it's certainly tough he says, to leave that group of kids behind, but again the opportunity to head north too good.

Rob 22-12 in 3 years at Chipley including last year's 11-3 mark and state runner up finish. Before that he was at Marianna for 2 seasons.
