Panama City Beach, FL---On the softball diamond over at the Gavlak Complex Friday night, Coach Rick Green and his Lady Marlins played host to the Lady Tigers of Chipley.
In the highlights attached above, Arnold in the dark pants, led by one in the top of the third, as starter Emily Sowell pitches to Mary Taylor. The Chipley catcher skies it to center as it falls just out of the reach of Arnold center fielder Dana Edmundson. Sarah Gilbert comes around to score and that ties it at one in the third.
Same score in the bottom of the fifth, as Arnold has the go ahead run at third. The Lady Marlins lay down a bunt but Gilbert fields it and guns Edmundson at the plate, so the game's still tied at 1.
Now in the top of the 6th, Chipley's Kacie Crews with a bid to give the Tigers the lead, drives the pitch to deep center but Edmundson hauls this one in for one of many incredible catches she displayed all night.
Bottom half of that inning, Arnold with the go ahead run at second. Gilbert gets the strikeout but the ball dribbles away from Taylor, the throw to first is off and that allows Arnold's Summer Simmons to come around to make it a 2-1 game.
Then in the top of the 7th, Chipley has a chance to at least send it to extras with the tying run at third. The pitch is blooped to right, where Ashley Gerkin comes in and makes the diving stab to end the game in dramatic style, as Arnold wins 2-1.
The Lady Marlins record sits at 2-1 on the young season.
