Panama City Beach, FL--We start with high school football and the regular season hasn't yet begun and already Arnold Head Coach James Hale is dealing with a rather big injury for his squad.
¶ Senior Eddie Williams, a verbal commit to Alabama, suffering a shoulder seperation, presumably on this play in Arnold's preseason game last Thursday at Choctaw. Williams also a starting safety, and in fact, was going to start the season under center for the Marlins.
So the qb. job for now goes to junior Hayden Deforge who did toss it around frequently in that half of play at Choctaw. which was part of what's going to have be a steep learning curve.
Arnold Head Coach
"He's gotta get a little bit better, he was nervous when he played. We had about five turnovers. I told him jokingly today, nobody in the history of high school football has played that poorly in two quarters, so it's gonna be a lot better come Thursday night. And he laughed and everybody laughed, had a good joke about it, so I think he's gonna play a lot better this week. He's played quarterback his whole life, his arm is getting better every day, all the drills we're doing. He's getting better throwing the football. He's just gotta get a little confidence and he'll be fine."
Arnold opens this Thursday at home against Pace. Williams likely to miss that game the next two after that. Hale hoping Eddie will be back for the district opener on the 23rd against Gulf Breeze.
