Arnold's Helen DeSantis Honored as Unsung Hero

Tampa, FL---It's some serious recognition for a member of the Arnold High School family Monday in Tampa.

Helen DeSantis of Panama Beach able to stand next to and be honored by, former Buc's and Colts head coach Tony Dungy Monday during a luncheon in Tampa.

Helen and Mark Davis of Merritt Island, are the two inaugural winners of the "Always There Award," an honor given to the unsung heroes who support Florida High School Athletic Programs.

The "Always There Award" created by Russell Athletic and All Pro Dad, a group designed to improve relationships between fathers and their children. Coach Dungy is it's spokesman.

Ms. DeSantis is a member of the Arnold High School support staff and has served as school librarian for the past 10 years. Described as the ultimate fan, she's at many Arnold sporting events, cheering teams on. They tell us she's a grandmother figure to the student athletes, always there for the kids, supporting, fundraising, guidance and an inspiration to students one 5th her age.

As part of her award, she gets a $1,500 athletic equipment grant for the school.
