BT Gold Gets Set for a Trip to ASA National Tourney

Southport, FL--A group of area high school softball players is gearing up for a trip to the A-S-A National Tournament in Montgomery Alabama.

The B-T Gold 16U team, made up of players from Arnold, Bozeman, Liberty, Mosley, Rutherford, and Wewa working towards that event.

Coach Dennis Faulkenberry says their research shows this is the first time ever a Panama City based team has made it to this prestigious national tournament.

"To qualify you have to be registered with ASA in the state of Florida." says Faulkenberry. "You have to You can only play Florida tournaments and you actually have to win, to get a berth, in one of those 13 tournaments. And we were fortunate enough to get one of those to get that invitation."

And all that, says Faulkenberry, adds up to some rather high caliber competition!

"This probably will be the best competition you can find at the 16U level. We've got 13 teams representing the state of Florida. I'm not sure how the make up is throughout the other states, but you'll have approximately 400 teams competing, so you'll have the best of the best. All your top college pitchers, most likely this is the organization that they came out of, is the ASA."

The tournament starts July 29th, by the way the team can use some help to defray the estimated cost of a thousand per player to make this trip.
