Bad Weather Forcing Series of State Playoff Postponements

Panama City, FL----The severe weather wreaking havoc across our area continues to force a series of postponements for high school sports.

That includes the softball state playoff games for several area teams including Mosley, Rocky Bayou, Wewa, Ponce de Leon, Sneads, Chipley, St. Joe, and South Walton. Some are having to push back to Thursday or Friday night games. Mosley's 5A home game against Wakulla now set for Saturday at 5. These are games originally slated for this past Tuesday.

Also five area baseball playoff openers pushed back. Rutherford's home game against Suwannee, originally set for Wednesday night, now set for Thursday night, with that game now set for Bozeman's field, which drains better than Rutherford's home diamond at Shamplain.

Mosley's game at Wakulla set for Friday night as well. Wakulla's coach telling Mosley's Todd Harless the field at Wakulla drains rather quickly.

Niceville, who will host Lincoln, and Crestview, traveling to Chiles, and Rocky Bayou hosting John Paul II are tentatively shooting for Friday night games since Okaloosa County schools are closed Thursday, no school, no games.

This is getting to the point these games are going to cause a backlog and become quite the headache for the FHSAA, which prefers not to push back second round games because first rounders have been delayed one, two, or even three days.
