Green Bay, WI----Bay alum Khyri Thornton is now officially a Green Bay Packer.
The third round pick out of Southern Mississippi signing a contract with the Packers Monday. It's what they called a slotted kind of deal, the money based on where he was drafted.
Thornton starts at $420,000 this season and if he plays out his rookie contract will get $2.2 million over four years, or an average of around $555,000 a season.
After proving himself a division one prospect at Bay, Khyri went on to play in Hattiesburg, where as a defensive end he notched 39 tackles and half-sack as a senior for the Golden Eagles. He spent part of the time before the draft back in the Panhandle preparing for the NFL combine, time well spent as he moved himself into the third round.
The Packers see him as a reserve his rookie season but who knows, anything is possible.
