Bay Begins Barnstorm Classic Play After Bye

Panama City, FL --- You've heard of March Madness. What about December Madness?

That's what it feels like with high school basketball Christmas tournament's taking place all around our area, including in Panama City at Bay High, where head coach Michael Grady's Tornadoes are hosting the Barnstorm Classic.

Entering day two of the tourney, the Tornadoes are a strong 8-2 on the year, after they received a first round bye Thursday.

Coach Grady says that while his team is one win away from the championship game, there are pros and cons to having yesterday off.

"We didn't want to have a first day bye," said Grady. "It was just the luck of the fall with only seven teams and not having that eighth team. But the advantages are that you do get to sit around, you get to scout, you get an extra day of rest, and you kinda just get to relax a little bit while the other teams are rushing in and getting going. Of course the disadvantages are they get to work the kinks out the first day. And they actually get to warm up but we're already accustomed to that stuff"

Coach Grady and his Tornadoes tip off Friday at 7:00 against New Site out of Mississippi, after they won their first day matchup with Lassiter from Georgia yesterday.
