Bay Point Invitational prizes handed out

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla- It was a big couple of days at the 27th annual Bay Point Invitational Billfish tournament. The awards ceremony was the final part of the weekend.

We saw the return of Blue Marlin to the scales, with 3 being weighed this weekend. Sunday alot of money was awarded for the big catches.

The biggest fish to hit the scales this weekend was a 665 pound Blue Marlin caught by Russell Bailey on the "Pipe Dream." It was brought in Saturday afternoon, but caught on Friday. That fish won captain Justin Drummond and crew of the "Pipe Dream" $208,499 in tournament and optional money.

The team also tied for first in the inaugural Triple Crown with the crew of "Patron," who won the Biloxi tournament.

In second place for the invitational tournament is Captain Jeff Shoutts and the crew of "Mollie." They racked up $106,000 in tournament and optional money. Angler Blake Roberts won the 1st place Dolphin which weighed in at 42.2 pounds. They also had two catch and release White Marlin that racked up some points.

The biggest fish that wasn't a Blue Marlin this weekend goes to Sherry Polk, she hooked a 134.2 pound Tuna. It was caught abroad the appropriately named "Shar-E."

In all over $960,000 was awarded including $84,000 in Friday's 40/40 shootout.
