Panama City, FL---Bay alum Bert Reed may have been cut by two NFL teams in recent weeks, but he remains optimistic when it comes to eventually earning a pay check in pro ball.
I spoke with the FSU and Bay grad on the practice field of his prep alma mater a few days ago. We talked about his shot at making an NFL roster this summer. He was one of the Browns final cuts in August, then spent a few days on Tampa Bay's practice squad before getting cut there.
All that says Bert simply good experience and certainly won't keep him from continuing to pursue a career in professional football.
"I am just running routes on my own, I'm still working out. I still got a workout regimen from Cleveland that they gave me, so I stayed with that. Right now it's just all about appreciating the game and being able to watch from the outside in, it's so different now. But I know I can play, and I know, honestly that God has a plan for me when it comes to this NFL thing. So I'm gonna keep my head down, stay grinding, and I'll be there soon, I know I will."
As we told you Monday Bert's had some preliminary talks with the Arena Football League team in Arizona, so perhaps the AFL is the next step in his pro career.
