Lakeland, FL---- For two area high school boy's basketball teams, the trip is on. The trip they both hope will end in a first state championship for their respective programs.

Both West Gadsden and Holmes are tonight in Lakeland, site of the state finals.

West Gadsden travelling Sunday, Holmes making that trip Monday through some rather ugly weather.

They stopped for lunch in Lake City, then made it to Lakeland in the mid afternoon, and hit the floor at a local gym around 7 eastern.

Holmes now 19-8, take on 28-1 Hawthorne tomorrow. Right after lunch, Ted Williams spoke with coach White about Tuesday's 1A semifinal opponent.

"I'm looking to have some film on them this evening and I'll get with the assistant coaches and see if they have any looks that we haven't seen. And then we'll discuss it amongst ourselves, and then we'll pass it along to the kids."

The Blue Devils seem to be playing their best basketball of the season, having beaten 1A powers Chipley in their district title game, and Malone Saturday in the region finals. Their game is 11:30 eastern tomorrow morning at the Lakeland Center.
