Bozeman Bests Liberty for District Title

South Walton, FL---A district title was on the line Friday night in South Walton, as Liberty and Bozeman met in the 1A district 4 championship for the third consecutive season.

The past two years, Liberty has not only won both matchups, but thrown no-hitters in the process. The Bucks did their best to return the favor this year.

Brandon Suttles took the mound for top-seed Bozeman and shut down the Bulldogs bats all game long, while his teammates had his back on offense.

Bubba Thompson helped two runs cross the plate, one on his first inning RBI double that gave the Bucks the early lead. The other coming with a two-out grounder in the fifth that went for an error after the throw in the dirt was bobbled. A heads up piece of running from pinch-runner Logan Foster allowed him to come around and score from second on the play to go up 2-0.

Bozeman added two more in the sixth, when Alec Aleywine's liner to center scored one run off the bat, with another coming home after Liberty threw the ball past third trying to tag out the advancing Tanner Taylor.

Suttles' no-hit bid went into the seventh and final inning, but was broken up by the Bulldog's Alex Gonzalez with a seeing-eye single up the middle. Liberty would add one run in their last licks, but couldn't capitalize further, despite having the bases loaded.

Bozeman wins their forth district championship in eight years, defeating Liberty 4-1. They'll welcome Northview to Sand Hills a week from Tuesday. Liberty will travel to Chipley.

In the highlights attached above, the action picks up in the bottom of the first, Bozeman gets on the board with Bubba Thompson's RBI double that goes to the fence in left. Nicky Agosto around from second and it's 1-0 Bucks.

Now bottom 5, Bucks add to the lead, Thompson at the plate, chops one to short, the throw to first in the dirt, takes a hop, and Logan Foster scores from second, it's 2-0.

Bottom 6, Alec Aleywine lines one up the middle with men at first and second, the runner on second scores easily, throw into third goes by the bag, allowing Tanner Taylor to race home, 4-0 game.

Bulldogs do get a hit and a run in the 7th, but Bozeman wins it 4-1, they are district champs for the 4th time in 8 years, they'll host Northview a week from Tuesday to start the playoffs. Bulldogs will travel to Chipley in round one.
