Panama City Beach, FL-- It's not every day our area gets a visit from a man who's in the business of locating minor league baseball franchises.

A few days ago, Scott Martens, who is the Milwaukee Brewers Player Development and Minor League Operations Manager, passed through Panama City.

He was the speaker at North Bay Haven's baseball banquet last Tuesday night, then spent Wednesday visiting with TDC officials, and other business folks in Bay County about local folks desire for hosting a minor league team in the region. Martens was left with a very good impression.

"Speaking with the different people around here, they run a number of different baseball tournaments in the course of a year. It's a city that supports baseball, and a city that loves baseball." says Martens. "Just the different people that I've talked to in the community, the business leaders, some of the other councile people that I have spoken to, you can definitely tell they're a group that's hungry for baseball."

Martens says the Brewers organization is very interested in the region, and will keep a close eye on Bay County for possible expansion in the near future.
