Bulldogs Hoping to Control Pace Friday

Bristol, FL---The Liberty Bulldogs are the only high school football players still working this week, still dreaming of a state title.

Come Friday, Liberty will host Northview in the 1A state semifinal game. The winner moves on to the state championship game next week in Orlando.

The Bulldogs hoping they can continue to get the big plays from the likes of number 5 Alex Marlowe and others.

That's been one of the keys to them averaging 28 points a game this season. Northview meanwhile comes in averaging 40 points a game. So we asked Liberty head coach Grant Grantham if we should expect a high scoring ballgame?

"Well we're gonna do what we do and hopefully hold the score down and get in a grind it out type of game. That's normally how we play. But we feel like we can score. A lot of our games have been 21-7, or 28-14 or something like that. But we feel we could have possibly scored in the 40's if we had kept going. But we felt that's not really out style. We're just gonna try and get it in our style of game, but we feel like we can play an up tempo kind of game if we have to."

Liberty's two playoff wins, a 26-7 win over Bozeman and then a 14-7 win last week over Blountstown. The Chiefs with wins over Cottondale and Freeport, the latter a 34-28 overtime win last week. Kickoff Friday in Bristol set for 7:30 eastern.
