Bristol, FL---Just three area football teams are still working this week, looking ahead to second round state playoff games.
Two of them go head to head Friday in Bristol, Blountstown and Liberty.
The latter the champs of 1-A district 4, opening with a playoff win last Friday over Bozeman. 26-7 that final. The Bucks committing some early turnovers, and the Dogs took advantage.
"Actually I thought we just came out of the gate playing really hard." says Liberty head coach Grant Grantham. "And when they scored to make it 19-7 I thought we answered back, we had a really good drive, a 16-17 play drive and we answered back. And that showed the maturity of our team."
So now it's a rematch with district rival Blountstown. Liberty won the previous meeting back in October. As they prepare for Friday, because there's no school this week, the players are working out first thing in the morning.
Given football players and coaches are creatures of habit, and the routine's changed, well we asked coach Grantham what effect that might have on things.
"You know it is very different, and creatures of habit, I might be the biggest one. But as far as...we've done this the last couple years so it kind of seems normal a little bit. And they just show up and have a smile on their face and ready to go to work. So it's not that big a deal really."
Coach Grantham is giving his guys Thanksgiving off, and that's nice. That game Thursday night set for 7:30 eastern.
