Miramar Beach, FL----It's safe to say another successful Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic is in the books, with that event handing out
well over a million bucks Sunday morning.
The biggest check handed out to the "CE" fishing team. Scott Cooper out of Point Clear Alabama in the seat when they landed what turned out to be the only blue marlin weighed in over two nights Friday and Saturday.
The attached video is from the "CE" as they fought that blue for just under two hours Friday. You'll see the fish come close to the boat, then run away from it. Much of the time it fought beneath the surface, but as you can see, it also jumped along the water on a few occasions.
Eventually Cooper and the crew winning this battle and when it hit the scale, this blue weighed in at 613.4 pounds. Since it was the only marlin weighed it, it swept first, second and third place tournament money, and swept the two optional jackpots they had entered, for a total haul of 283 thousand dollars.
Suffice it to say Scott and the CE crew have already signed up for next year's ECBC. Congrats to Tournament Director Shawna Harris and the entire staff at Sandestin for another terrific event.
