is Cam Newton going to play Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs. suddenly we don't know the answer to that! All week long the folks at Auburn have proclaimed Newton as elgible and that there was no reason to pull him off the field Saturday. Friday a change in that, reporters from both CBS and ESPN say they've been told by Auburn athletic officials that they won't comment on Newton's status.
The NCAA is investigating a mounting pile of allegations that Newton's father concocted a "pay for play" scheme during Cam's recruitment by Mississippi State and Auburn. The NCAA though says it doesn't suspend student athletes, that's left up to the institution.
Whether Newton plays or not, if the Tigers beat Georgia, they're into the SEC title game!
