Chipley Beats West Gadsden, Punches Ticket to Lakeland

Chipley, FL---It's another trip to the state tournament for Chipley and Malone, both region final winners Friday night on their home courts.

Chipley getting another big effort from sophomore Trent Forrest who scored 26 points, helping the Tigers pull away from West Gadsden in their 1A region final. The Tigers building a 40-24 lead by halftime, the Tigers never looked back, stretching the final margin to 20.

So coach Joel Orlando and his Tigers are headed back to Lakeland where just two year ago, they won their first ever boy's basketball state championship. Chipley, now 22-2, will face Hamilton in their semifinal Wednesday at the Lakeland Center.

A big crowd on hand, including FSU's Leonard Hamilton,in to scout Chipley's Trent Forrest.

Early on though the Panthers, in the dark uni's, making their mark, #3 Archie Albritton for three.

Then off the defensive rebound and the break, it's Marquis Brown finishing, Panthers up 3.

Chipley begins to find it's groove though, Forrest on the break, ball stripped but he recovers, scoops it and scores.

Then it's Tyrome Sharp driving and kicking it back out to Forrest who cans the three.

A bit later it's Sharp with three more, gives props to the crowd.

Tigers up 40-24 at the break, they win by 20, 73-53, Forrest with 26, Sharp 18. Now 22-2, Tigers head to the 1A state semi's to face Chiefland Wednesday.
