Chipley Wins State Semifinal, Plays for Title Thursday

Lakeland, FL---The Chipley girl's basketball team gets a shot at the 1A state championship for the second straight year! The Lady Tigers beat Hawthorne 45-42 in their state semifinal Wednesday afternoon at the Lakeland Center.

That puts Chipley into the title game against Panhandle foe Paxton, which won it's semifinal Wednesday 53-41 over Chiefland.

The Lady Tigers built a 3 point lead by halftime of their game23-20, and was able to hold on to win by that same margin. Guard Amanda Paschal helping to lead the way with 24 points, on 8 of 15 shooting from the field.

Chipley making just it's third state finals appearance, and has never won a girl's basketball state championship. Last year the Lady Tigers made it to the 1A title game, losing that to South Walton.
