Chipley Working Through Layoffs Before Playoff Opener

Chipley, FL---Area 1A teams are getting set for their region semifinals Tuesday, which actually is their first round playoff games.

¶ Among the interesting local matchups, 15-13 Port St. Joe traveling up to face 20-2 Chipley! Because the 1A teams only play four playoff rounds, well it means they sit for over a week between the districts and state.

Something the coaches must account for, says Chipley head coach Joel Orlando.

"It's a great point. You have to mix it up. You have to gauge how strong you want to go early in the week and then back off towards the end. You also want to be prepared for the team that you're playing in all facets. Port St. Joe is very well known. Traditionally being athletic, fast, quick. I'm just glad we're not going into the Shark Tank and that we have the game at our place."

That game one of four 1A games Tuesday, Cottondale at Malone, Paxton at Sneads, Northview at West Gadsden the other three.
